Overview
This year, 2025, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum commemorates its 30th anniversary. Over the last three decades since the museum opened in 1995, a wide range of artistic expressions have emerged, and while responding to societal changes, photography has continuously evolved without interruption.
This exhibition, State of the Artist: So Far and From Now On, introduces the latest pursuits of outstanding Japanese artists, active both at home and abroad, along with their past works, which are already contained in the museum collection. It is our hope that this opportunity to encounter the artists’ current activities will both deepen understanding of their works, and inspire an exploration of creative possibilities in the future.

東京都写真美術館は2025年に総合開館30周年を迎えました。1995年の総合開館から30年の間にもさまざまな表現が誕生し、社会の変化とも呼応しながら、写真表現の歴史は途切れることなく更新されています。「作家の現在」と題した本展では、国内外で活躍が目覚ましい作家の現在の活動を、これまで当館に収蔵された作品等と合わせて紹介します。進行形の作家活動に触れる機会を通し、作品理解を深めるとともに、これからの表現の可能性を探ります。
