Osamu Kanemura Exhibition JAN 27 – FEB 25, 2018, RAINROOTS & MUNO Simultaneous holding
“RAINROOTS”
“RAINROOTS” in the exhibition contains of pictures.
“White Rabbit Opium Dream” is the work in 2011, and it might be said that it is Kanemura’s legitimate work printed precisely on baryta photographic paper. “System Crash for Hi-Fi” is the work in 2015, and he shows a chemical change and something depleted on the same screen by sprinkling chemicals on the RC paper which is not used anymore. “Living Dead Suicide” is the unpublished work, which is a color digital print, and he has never used the technique, so it is the first time for him, which is a new attempt. By using these different prints, “RAINROOTS” can show the inner complex structure and chaotic exhibition.
“MUNO”
In “MUNO” of the white cube, the image of installation called “Do not resuscitate” will be exhibited. It will make the atmosphere filled with images by projecting many image works which is including unpublished images on all sides of walls.
Artist Statement
I thought many skills of images would be made in order to give spectaculars the close feelings, by watching the image of an autism simulator which is recreated how autistic children see reality. Their eyesights breaks the rules of perspectives making reality a fragment because some parts, which are very vivid, suddenly appear, close things are seen as if they were very far away; a color is highlighted only by reacting the color. For them whose controls of the rules of perspectives are broken, the world in front of them will appear like a chaotic flood. The image’s skills which are series of actions and close-up are created to accept easily the camera function which can disorientate reality by human’s perceptivity. However, some parts of movie directors who are consciously thinking about camera’s principles use these skills to break the order of perceptivity. The close-up in “The Birth of a Nation” by Lillian Gish and “The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station” by Lumieres confused the then spectaculars and made them in panic. Would it because the order of spectacular’s perceptivity was broken? The real world might be close to the world the autistic children see, which are relations are thrown away and fragments are floating. Images and pictures exist not for serving the order of perceptivity like the real republication and movies but for separating the real world and summoning the confused world. (Osamu Kanemura)
