Butterfly Sandwich

Butterfly Sandwich

Exhibit in Tokyo, 2010

I began taking photographs in 1989, the year that the Showa Emperor died. That was the year the Berlin Wall would fall and Europe would be plunged into a period of rapid and radical change, but in Japan we had the Chief Cabinet Secretary, a doltish-looking fellow by the name of Obuchi, introduce the new era name, Heisei, by displaying the calligraphy upside down.

The series was exhibited in “GALLERY OGUMAG,” Tokyo, 2010, and is including 21 photographs.
